Science Museum Wonderlab - Design Visualisation

Balancing the realisation of a spectacular gallery with the need to clearly communicate scientific principles, the Science Museum’s new gallery, Wonderlab, acts as an immersive and playground-like experience of scientific discovery. Challenging the the generic, sterile architecture of many institutional learning environments, we created a robust, hardworking space which also delivers a sense of atmospheric grandeur and delight.

Ruskin Square - Research and Design Visualisation

Ruskin’s interest in the natural world, in the necessity of combining work and play, and in the importance of democratic aesthetics are all borne out through generous, playful design elements.
The project creates distinct areas that fit together like a jigsaw with playable furniture, natural forms and porous planting forming new routes and vistas across the site. Natural stone features and thoughtful planting pick up the themes of geology and environmental responsiveness, with an innovative combination of permeable paving, groundwater attenuation and below ground rooting zones helping to resist flooding in an ecologically-integrated way

Bespoke seating and lighting and wayfinding invite play, alonne with permanent infrastructure to support temporary uses make the space available to the widest possible constituency at different times of the day, week and year.
